A grade 9 response will: identify requirements (moisture-wicking, lightweight, quick-drying); 100% cotton - absorbs sweat, heavy when wet; 100% polyester - wicks moisture, quick-drying, retains shape; cotton-poly blend - compromise but not enough wicking. Conclude: 100% polyester (or polyester-elastane blend) for performance running wear.

Common Errors: Watch Out! Students often make mistakes here. Wrong: Natural fibres are always more environmentally friendly than synthetic fibres. A full LCA shows neither is clearly superior - organic cotton reduces pesticides; recycled polyester reduces fossil fuel dependence.
